Career Closet Classics Picks from Talbots

Happy Friday!

It’s been a while since I’ve posted for Fashion Friday and I have a couple of great fashion oriented blogs in the works — one with a great tween/kids clothing brand that has given me the opportunity to take some super cute photos of my 12-year-old in a denim inspired outfit she chose. I’m also reviewing a great monthly style service for women and it’s NOT the one you’ve probably heard about so much. Be sure to stop by next Friday and the next!

Today I want to give you a heads up about the amazing Red Hanger sale at Talbots. Talbots has classic tailored clothing and their clothes last and last! You won’t find super trendy clothing there, but you will find some great investment pieces, especially for work. I recently hit this sale in February with a $200 gift card and was able to score some amazing deals for my new job in PR.

If you follow me on Instagram, you know I love to put together frugal and fashionable outfits for work so Talbots on a regular basis is out of my price point, however they have fantastic sales. My favorite work pants are the Freeport style and they are currently marked down to just $24.99 (regularly $109!) These are fully lined, can be washed on gentle and dried on gentle at home (no dry cleaning…hallelujah!). They come in this beautiful light tan shade as well as black and navy. I also need a well-made petite length pant and these are PERFECT! You can see them below. They look great with dressier heels or wedge sandals in summer.

Here are some other picks for you in case you want to check out this sale:

Side-ruched dress – $56.99 (marked down from $126)

Repeat after me, ruching is your friend! Especially if you are over 40 and bonus points if you’ve birthed a few babes. This is such a classic that would never go out of style! Throw on some jewelry and change them up for a more trendy look or classic style (like pearls). Very versatile.

Stripe sweater jacket – $62 (marked down from $129)

I love sweaters. My office is typically cool and this is a dressy tailored option that almost looks like a structured jacket. Again, this is an investment layering piece that will never be faddish. I love the crisp clean look of black and white.

striped cardigan

Color-block shift dress – $50.99 (marked down from $119)

A shift dress is as classic as Jackie O and another great piece to add to your career wardrobe. This one is just $50! I’ve been trending away from black toward navy, especially for summer.

Flounce-sleeve tee – $29 (marked down from $54.50)

I’m a jeans and t-shirts kind of girl on the weekends. Sometimes you need a little dressier t-shirt option for casual days. This is a great updated look.

Lace-up pencil skirt in polished denim – $35.99 (marked down from $99)

If you can wear denim to work, but your office has a more buttoned-up dress code this is a nice option with fun detailing that is a twist. A pencil skirt is another classic wardrobe item. This would look great with wedges, a crisp white button down blouse and a fun necklace.

Tie-sleeve blouse – $35.99 (marked down from $79.50)

This is a beautiful feminine blouse that looks professional and comfy as well. It comes in a few great shades and I’m especially fond of this pretty light blue! It’s also machine washable. Booyah!

Graphic floral print tie-front blouse $38.99 (marked down from $89.50)

I’m a sucker for a pretty blouse and this is a great black and white floral print that is fairly seasonless. You could wear this now through fall. The style is flattering as well!

black floral top

Jewel-neck popover shell – $35.99 (marked down from $69.50)

Every career wardrobe needs a nice shell. This is a gorgeous color that would be flattering on any skin tone.

Edison ankle-strap flats – $53.99 (marked down from $129)

What can I say? I love a great animal print. These are a conservative style, but with a funky twist.

What’s your favorite look? I highly recommend the pants featured above and you can’t go wrong with any of these looks! I am loving all the blouses.
