Things I Love Thursday

Happy October! The summer has flown by and I can’t believe the holidays are right around the corner. My girls are at different schools this year (after both being at the same middle school last year) and I can’t believe I have a high schooler. Times they are a changin’.

Here are a few things I am loving these days for which I was contacted to review (but under no obligation…these all sounded great for our busy household.)

Monat Hair Care Products – I haven’t always been nice to my hair. Too much blow drying, too much highlighting, you name it I’ve done it. I am always looking for great new hair products and back in the spring a rep for a company called Monat contacted me to see if I’d like to try some samples. I wasn’t familiar with this line, which was developed in South America and is now available in the U.S. Monat products may be purchased individually or as a system, which is discounted. There are also two price points for these botanically-based products: retail or VIP which is a special customer program that provides a 15 % discount, free shipping, and lots of other perks. The Restore Leave In Conditioner, which was my FAVORITE product, is $33 retail, or $28 VIP for example. The products are amazing. Among the slew of ingredients they don’t contain are Phthalates, Sulfates, Parabens, harmful colors or fragrances. I’ve never been able to master the professional blow-out look at home, but their Restore Leave In Conditioner made my hair look almost fresh from the salon beautiful! If you have damaged hair or you are trying to grow out your hair, I highly recommend this line. They also offer a line made specifically for men. Colleen with Monat is my contact and you can visit her site here.

Colgate Optic White Brush and Pen – I am all about multi-tasking, especially when it comes to beauty products. This is a nifty toothbrush from longtime brand Colgate that also contains a tooth-whitening pen that can be stored within the toothbrush, perfect for business travel. The whitening pen is not as effective as whitening strips, but great for a little boost. Brightening and whitening your smile is a great way to give your selfie a little healthy glow.

FilterEasy Filter Delivery Service – Do you change your air filters regularly? With three dogs I’ve learned that regularly changing our air filter is a must do. Unfortunately I don’t always think about it and our air filters for our house are an odd size that aren’t always in stock. Delivery subscription services are becoming more and more popular for all sorts of services and I was excited to learn about FilterEasy. This air filter subscription service takes the guesswork out of remembering to change your filters. Once you set up your account, your filters are delivered to your doorstep and the prices are comparable to what you’d pay at your local hardware store or big box retailer. FilterEasy’s website is easy to navigate and they offer three categories of filters: LiteAllergen, MicroAllergen and SuperAllergen. You can probably guess which one I chose. (Ha!) It’s nice to have one more to do off my list, especially going into fall and winter when we’ll be running our HVAC unit quite a bit. If you’re trying to simplify your life, this is a great delivery service to try. Maybe air filters aren’t sexy, but clean breathing air is!

Bedgear Performance Bedding Hyper-Cotton Sheets – Made with eco-friendly fibers, these sheets are made to help wick away heat and moisture.  At 47 I sometimes feel like my internal body temp is whack…I’m either hot or cold in bed! These sheets made Oprah’s list of favorites this summer and have an actual science behind them. All bedgear performance textiles undergo a complete air flow rating system called CFM®, which measures the rate at which air passes through the fabric. If you are having trouble falling asleep and staying asleep it can be due to your thermostat as well as your bedding that can trap heat and make you hot.  Most sleep experts recommend keeping the temperature at 65 degrees to create comfortable conditions for restorative sleep. It is also important to select bedding that is lightweight, breathable and will not trap body heat to cause sweating. Getting a good night’s sleep is so important to me that I’ve gotten it down to a science, from lavender essential oils in my diffuser to listening to relaxation music, and now these sheets (which are very comfortable) are just one more way I ensure I get a much needed good night’s sleep! If you have trouble getting a comfortable sleep temperature, I highly recommend these sheets.
