I can’t believe I’m inching closer and closer to 50! I turn 47 this month and have done my share of damage to my skin over the years. I have never been a skincare junkie but I am always on the lookout for new skincare products. Longtime Nashville resident and businesswoman Connie Elder, who just relocated to Breckenridge with her husband, has developed a brand new skincare line called Peak 10 Skin. Connie, who has an impressive background as a skincare executive as well as a career as a QVC on-air personality and author, was gracious enough to send me several of the Peak 10 Skin products to try and I’ve been using them all summer. BONUS points for you if you read to the end! (Hint…discount!)
I always want to take the absolute best care of my skin and try to erase as much of the sun damage as possible. I tend to freckle and I always slather on sunscreen but in my teens and 20s not so much. I’m having a flashback right now of tanning oil and “laying out” with a boom box within arm’s reach. I also went to a tanning bed a few times in my youth. Was this stupid? Heck yeah! Now I’m working to reverse some of that damage.
I love Peak 10 Skin products’ simple list of ingredients, especially when compared to other popular brands. PEAK 10 SKIN™ contains a higher percentage of ingredients proven to be effective like peptides and hyaluronic acid. Peak 10 Skin products are also never tested on animals and do not contain parabens. Two Peak 10 products (lip balm and CC cream, which I’ve been using) were just named EDITOR’S FAVs by More.com!
Here are the products I have been using as part of my morning routine. I’ve linked to each individual product so you can read more and also see pricing.
Gentle Foam Cleanser With Rose Hips – Just two to three pumps of this gentle foaming cleanser effectively cleans my face. It has a very light and refreshing scent. I use makeup wipes to remove my mascara and eyeliner, but this cleanser effectively removes my makeup and never leaves my skin feeling “overcleansed” or taut. I also use this every evening.
Peptide MAX – One pump applied to clean dry skin helps reduce wrinkle depth and volume over time (I also use this serum in the evening.) I am a big believer in serums once you hit age 40 so I’m excited to see the long-term benefits.
EYE WORK eye cream – I started using eye cream before I turned 40. I use a 1/2 to one full pump of this around my eyes every morning especially in the crow’s feet area. My years of not wearing sunglasses and squinting are starting to add up! Also contains Arnica and Vitamin K.
HDROXtreme Moisture Cream – I use this as the last step each morning before applying foundation, unless I am using a CC CREAM or going makeup commando!
CC CREAM – In the summer, especially, I want to forgo heavier coverage foundation, but I still need a little coverage. I love this SPF30 tinted moisturizer. It comes in three shades. The tint simply evens out your complexion.
Here are the additional products I use in the evening.
SYNERGY-C – This great serum contains vitamin C, B, AND E. It is ideal for helping to reverse sun damage as well as a powerful antioxidant. It should be used first on clean skin and then followed up with a moisturizer. There is a very similar product on the market by a pharmaceutical grade brand that has 15% Vitamin C (Peak 10 Synergy-C has 20%) and otherwise they are identical except for the price. Peak 10’s Synergy-C product is $60 for 1 oz., while the competing product is $160 for the same size bottle.
Peak Performance Night Cream – This evening night cream is my last step at night. It contains 10% fruit acid/glycolic and absorbs quickly and never feels too heavy or greasy.
This pic was taken just a few days ago. I apply Peak 10’s NECTAR lotion on my neck area nightly. This is an often overlooked area, but think about how much sun damage this area gets and how visible your neck is! My skin feels smoother and more supple.
Additional products I have been trying out include the micro-dermabrasion refining cream which I use once a week in the shower. I love LOVE this product and it’s one of my favorites! I’ve also used the MIRAGE peptide-soft focus primer (think of it like a little Photoshop “smooth” feature for the eye area) and the NECTAR lotion for my neck, which I also count as one of my top five favorites from this line.
