Opry Mills #WorkTheShirt Spring Accessory Fashion Challenge

Being a working mom to two very busy middle schoolers, it is always a treat to get to shop solo. Although I am a huge bargain shopper, I still love browsing a mall when given the chance!

I am thrilled to partner up with Opry Mills here in Nashville for the Work the Shirt challenge as a part of the Accessorize Your Spring Event now through May 31. I’m a big believer in investing in classic staples pieces for your wardrobe, and a button-down chambray shirt is one of those must have work hard for your money items that can be worn year round! Opry Mills sent me a soft chambray button down shirt from Ann Taylor Loft. I was asked to head out to the mall (the struggle is real ya’ll) and accessorize this lovely spring classic that honestly will see me through fall, and possibly winter on mild days when layered!

There are several HOT accessory trends right now and Opry Mills stores such as my favorites, Banana Republic, Ann Taylor, Express and J Crew have them all: metallics, cobalt blue, stripes and florals. I headed to the mall and as I browsed, I immediately honed in on a few favorites for spring: cobalt blue and florals. I was also happy to see this sign greeting me at the entrance to so many of my favorite stores…hello and heck yeah!

Now when it comes to accessorizing a denim chambray button-down the sky (or maybe I should say the credit card) is the limit. You can wear a chambray shirt so many ways this spring:

See? I told you so.

I ended up finding quite a few accessory items on sale at Ann Taylor I loved and I put together a layered spring shorts look inspired by florals. With a neutral base palette of white shorts or white pants and a chambray button down you have SO many outfit options! You could add floral pumps, a floral scarf or maybe even a floral bag. However you choose to add florals to your spring wardrobe, there are so many versatile looks. I also decided to mix in some different patterns such as stripes and eyelet for added visual interest.

I love these soft floral bangles from Ann Taylor and added them to my shopping bag. They remind me of a Monet print and will be pretty throughout spring and summer. Look at all these great bracelets to choose from, though! Bracelets are a great relatively non-committal and inexpensive way to completely change the vibe of an outfit. I love the neon (80s girl here), the gray more classic looks in the center, and, of course, the bright and cheerful florals!

I also found an amazing floral scarf with fun pom pom trim that will be perfect in so many ways. The scarves at Ann Taylor were 60 percent off, making this one less than $30.

Here is my final outfit! It mixes eyelet, denim, a black and white silk striped top, the fun bold floral pom-pom embellished trim scarf and the floral bangles. I think it would be cute for a casual weekend out with friends and you can separate the different elements to create even more outfits. I love navy as a neutral alternative to basic black, especially for spring. The striped black top is really me…I love black and white as it is such a classic combo and it can be softened with florals. You can also make this top more sophisticated with black trousers and a more tailored necklace, such as pearls.

Denim and Floral Inspired Spring Outfit

The eyelet shorts are currently 50 percent off at Ann Taylor and are a beautiful classic cut, the striped silk sleeveless top is extremely versatile and I can’t wait to wear it dressed up under a blazer or just by itself with colored skinny jeans and wedges, and the floral pom-pom accent scarf and floral inspired bangle accessories I chose work beautifully for spring.

I also almost bought this silver and cobalt blue statement necklace at Ann Taylor which was marked down even more and would have set me back less than $12! Isn’t it pretty?

Speaking of cobalt blue, I also spied this beautiful bracelet on sale at Express.

Still, I’m happy with my floral finds, although with this fabulous sale going on all month, I may just have to head back to Opry Mills.

Do you have a chambray or denim button down? How do you style it?

Disclosure: I was given a gift card from Opry Mills in exchange for my review of accessory sale items. As always, all opinions expressed here are all mine!

I love Opry Mills! What a great post about dressing up shirts. I wear my chambray Oxford at least once a week, and your list gave me some more ideas to try. Thanks, Jamie!
