Styling Skinny Jeans From Isaac Mizrahi

I am a jeans and boots girl in the fall. Luckily for me I am one of those “creative types,” and I can typically dress up a pair of jeans even for a client meeting.

Jeans are the building blocks of any fall wardrobe and I am loving my new Savanna Skinny Jean from Isaac Mizrahi in Dark Indigo Wash. They also come in a gorgeous Vintage Wash as well. They have just the right stretch factor to hug your curves and not lose their shape (because, let’s face it, who wants to wash their jeans after each wear?)

We’ve been enjoying delightfully cooler temps in Nashville this week which is oh so not the norm for typically muggy August. I went out with a local blogger group tonight on the Big Love Bus downtown and paired my skinny jeans with my favorite black riding boots, a sheer top, and a statement necklace. Skinny jeans are the LBD of denim.

Can you still wear skinny jeans in your 40s? I’m 46 and I say heck yeah!

Styling Skinny Jeans In Your 40s

Pair with a longer top. (Such as the creme one I wore this evening) or tunic that covers your hips. Wear elegant heels for a more formal event or classic, well-structured boots for a casual style.

Go for a monochromatic look. Pair black skinny jeans with a black sheer top and a bold statement necklace or fun scarf in the fall or winter.

Get the proper fit. Skinny jeans should not be peel off your body and peel off your top layer of skin jeggings tight (Lord help us BURN THOSE.) Skinny jeans should have some give, such as these jeans from Isaac Mizrahi, which feature 1% lycra. Unless you are rail thin, don’t opt for junior size. Shop for your skinnies in the women’s department and invest in a decent pair. This is not one of those times you want to opt for the cheapest you can find, but the best fitting. A great pair of jeans is a fashion investment that will last for years.
