My older daughter is in middle school and I’ve been trying to share good skincare habits with her as she approaches her teens. My mom always stressed to me the importance of taking care of my skin (my mom has beautiful skin), but unfortunately when I was in my teens and 20s I did a lot of damage in the form of tanning.
Now that I’m in my 40s I’m diligent about using anti-aging skincare products and keeping up with the latest research. RoC Skincare sent me their Retinol Correxion line and I’ve been really pleased with the products over the past few weeks.
RoC’s Academy is a great online resource that I’ve been studying to learn more about the aging process. I love the test your knowledge section at the end.
Here are 5 facts I’ve learned about aging skin while studying the information shared through the RoC Academy:
- Retinol can help reduce the following signs of aging skin: dullness, fine lines, wrinkles
- The aging process actually begins to develop in your skin in your 20s. (So use that sunscreen and wear those shades!)
- The delicate skin around your eyes requires different products.
- In order to receive maximum benefits from retinol products, combine them with a sunscreen.
- Consistency is the key to effective anti-aging products. It may take 6 to 12 weeks for you to begin to see results.
I shared the information I’ve learned from RoC Academy with a few of my fellow FemCity Nashville board members as well as my co-workers during our lunch break. Fellow board member and wardrobe consultant/style blogger Katie Rushton was surprised to learn that skin begins to show aging as early as your 20s. “Also, didn’t know you were suppose to combine retinol products with sunscreen. Glad to know. I will have to try that.”
“Really interesting info about skincare! I didn’t realize retinol could help with anti-aging; I thought it was only used for severe acne. I’ve learned something new! I was also surprised to hear how affordable the RoC products are. I’m also encouraged that it could take up to 3 months to see changes in your skin. Often, I give up way too soon when trying a new intervention for skincare, but now I know I need a long-term vision and not to expect drastic changes overnight.
Thanks for all the great info and introduction to new (to me) RoC products”
I’m co-hosting a fun Twitter party this Thursday, April 3. Join me at noon CST to talk beauty and skincare with #ROCacademy. You could win some great products from RoC. Here’s the official invite: http://twtvite.com/
The winner of the fabulous RoC gift basket from my previous RoC post is Elena. Congrats Elena!
Elena and several readers posted their skincare questions in response to my last post and I thought I’d feature a couple of them.
Elena asked: “My skin care question is how to treat sun spots?”
Answer: Retinol helps fade sun spots. RoC’s new correxion line is perfect for this!
Reader Ruth asked: “How long does it take to see results using these products?”
Answer: As early as 6 weeks (but could take up to 12…be patient and use daily!)
Reader Dawn asked: “Are the Roc products non-comedogenic? I have to deal with wrinkles and fine lines but also have to be careful which products I use to avoid breakouts, even at my age.”
Answer: Yes, all RoC skincare products are non-comedogenic.
