Fashion Friday: Ikat Print Trend

I’m not a huge fan of prints, but Ikat tribal-inspired prints are everywhere and are a carry-over trend from last year. I love the look for summer. I even saw touches of Ikat-inspired accessories at the Southern Living Idea House in the pillows used on the porch.

What is Ikat? It’s a dyeing process similar to tie-dye.

Here are a few Ikat inspired items I’ve scouted out online for summer.

Ikat Print Trend Dress Ann Taylor

Love this classic dress from Ann Taylor ($98).

Ikat Print Trend Dress Sears

A more budget minded black and white Ikat-inspired print dress from Sears (just $34.99.)

Hilfiger Orange Ikat Print Trend Dress

Love orange in the summer – check out this fun dress from Tommy Hilfiger (although I do not like the shoes they paired with it.)

Ikat Print Trend Shorts Old Navy Girls

Very cute Old Navy shorts for girls, perfect for summer vacation.

Belk Shorts Ikat Print Trend

Fun preppy look Ikat shorts for women from Belk.

Elaine Turner Ikat Print Trend Wedge

Super cute Harper Ikat Wedge from Elaine Turner (also comes in a great aqua and blue color scheme.)

TOMS Ikat Print Trend Wedge

TOMS Ikat wedges with a comfy cork heel.

What’s your favorite item? I love the Elaine Turner wedges (although I’m not sure I could actually walk in them…ha), the shorts from Belk, and the Tommy Hilfiger dress!

Just a small correction – Ikat is not a dyeing process like tie and dye. It is a process of weaving to create these designs. Ikat is traditionally done on handlooms, but in modern times, machine looms have taken over the process.
