This picture hurts my heart …MUST REARRANGE DISHES NOW.
We’ve had our lovely GE Hybrid Stainless Steel Interior Dishwasher going on two months now and it’s made the tedious task of dishwashing a lot more pleasant. One thing that hasn’t changed? My slightly anal retentive view of the proper way a dishwasher should be loaded.
Here are some of my pet peeves:
- Loading the dishwasher packed with dirty food residue (I realize you shouldn’t wash dishes before you load them, but please rinse them. I don’t want any spaghetti noodles flying’ around in there, getting a spa treatment!)
- Loading knives sharp ends up (holy potential stitches)
- Loading everything haphazardly (I load the dishwasher in the most efficient manner possible because I don’t want to do any hand washing!)
- Running the dishwasher when it’s not full (maximize that baby’s potential ya’ll)
What are some of your rules for loading the dishwasher? Are you a tad OCD, like me, when it comes to the proper … ahem … way to load it? Which team are you on? Forks up or down?
Disclosure: I received a GE Hybrid Stainless Steel Interior Dishwasher in exchange for a series of posts reviewing the appliance.
I HATE HATE HATE it when someone loads knives with the sharp end up! It really is dangerous. There have been many times when I stick my hand in the dishwasher expecting that the knives will be down and have just about cut myself.
I do have to confess that my husband is able to get more dishes in there than I am, but sometimes, they don’t all get clean because he’s blocked another dish! But hey, I’m not complaining because I didn’t have to load it! 🙂
I was informed once by a lady that she left the knives facing up in the dish strainer because that way the tips wouldn’t rust by possibly sitting in a pool of H20…awesome philosophy of crap I say! I’d prefer to not slit my wrist today Thanks.. Common Sense: A rare ability of intelligence few possess.
P.S. The Pasta Sauna is a common occurrence in our dishwasher as well. Always a big hit after the heat crisps it back on the dishes….The reloading and rewashing of said dishes are always followed with a quiet count to 10 and ten delicious swallows of wine.
