There’s No Place Like Home

These are my ruby slippers.

And no my name is not Dorothy.

I’m a happy mama back at home after a whirlwind weekend filled with soggy soccer tournament action (my older daughter Miss C’s team won the U9 championship!) and then packing and heading north for the GE Momsperience blogger event in Louisville, Kentucky, Sunday with my friend Calie, who blogs atย Broccoli Cupcake.

I had a fabulous time and I will be writing more about the fantasy kitchen and drool worthy appliances I saw at the GE Monogram kitchen. I also thoroughly enjoyed our stay atย 21C, which is an art museum slash hotel with a very hip vibe, the most comfortable ginormous bed ever, super soft towels, and very “interesting” art work. Let’s just say I stayed on the fourth floor, also known as the “OMG there is a nearly nekkid man staring at me every time I step off the elevator” floor.

There were also Derby hats to be made, dirty laundry secrets to be aired (husbands you might want to install a hidden utility room cam to see exactly what items your gym clothes share wash time with that may or may not involve soaking up dog urine), and Mint Juleps to be sipped.

I learned that I can actually wield a glue gun without breaking out in hives and I tolerated sipping my second Mint Julep of my life, which is pretty much straight bourbon, for a few seconds, or at least long enough to get a picture made in my pretty purple party hat on the grounds of beautiful Churchill Downs.

The shoes are super comfy and they are actually from the girls’ department! I need to shop there more often. For shoes…nothing else will fit me from there, though! ๐Ÿ˜‰
