SmartyAnts Giveaway: Entertaining And Educational

This giveaway is closed. The winner is Amanda Starr who commented, “My daughter would love this! Learned that there is more than 60 stories and over 300 sing-along songs, wow!

There’s nothing more exciting than watching your child learn to read and seeing the joy in their face as they sound out letters and really “get it.”

We’ve been fans of LeapFrog toys since my oldest daughter was still in diapers so I was excited to check out SmartyAnts, the new online educational world developed by LeapFrog toys founder Mike Wood.

With a social media savvy mom and a techie entrepreneur dad, my girls have grown up using technology from a very young age. My youngest daughter could navigate my iPhone apps like a pro when she was just 3. I want to encourage my girls to use technology as an educational resource, though, and not just for entertainment.

We’ve been using the SmartyAnts website and companion Phonics Reading Pup (the soft and cuddly part of SmartyAnts) for a few weeks. The games Miss A is playing on SmartyAnts are so much fun she doesn’t even realize she is learning to read and adding new words to her reading repertoire. Designed specifically for pre-K through first grade, the SmartyAnts curriculum was developed using well-established educational guidelines that either meet or exceed these grades’ reading standards in all 50 states. Miss A is in kindergarten and will be 6 in March and she is the perfect age for SmartyAnts!

SmartyAnts assesses your child’s skill level and then tailors a reading program just for them. Her adorable reading pup sings and tells stories that reinforce what she’s been learning online. She’s named him Husk Husk and she’s been toting him around with her on the weekends when we run errands.

The SmartyAnts software was fairly simple to upload and Miss A already has a few favorite games, although she told me she loves all of them. The fun rock climbing wall game and the running track game both are teaching her to sound out and read words. The really cool part is she is not just “playing games,” but learning to read.

SmartyAnts has 11 customized learning levels and 69 separate educational units filled with:

  • Hundreds of learning videos
  • 67 individual stories
  • More than 300 personalized songs

The SmartyAnts world is also secure and password-protected, so it’s a safe environment for your child. The virtual “ant friends” they encounter online model good manners, teamwork, and cooperation.

Want to win a one-year subscription for your child to as well as their own adorable Phonics Reading Pup (a $69.99 value)? This would make a great holiday gift for a young reader, up to age 7!

Visit the SmartyAnts website and then leave a comment here with something you learned about this fun new online educational system for kids.

I’ll choose a random winner from all eligible comments left by midnight Sunday, November 21.
