Saturday Morning Links, I Believe She’s Amazing Edition

It is absolutely flat out gorgeous this morning in Nashville. The temperatures are in the 50s, teasing me with the notion of tossing on a sweater and pulling on my black boots, but it’s going to be a scorcher later this afternoon and just in time for Miss C’s soccer game, unfortunately. Mama’s not packing away the flip flops!

A woman named Kim MacGregor, mom to three girls, sent me this flash mob video which is in essence her amazing love letter in dance and movement and song to her dear friend Erika who passed away last year from colon cancer at the very young age of 31. You can read the entire back store here at I Believe She’s Amazing. Erika was the national spokesperson for the Look Good Feel Better non-profit organization that helps women undergoing cancer treatment to feel radiant and beautiful, even through a difficult time in their lives.

I hope this video makes you smile!

I love this post from The Painted House called A Ranch Original. She interviews her 90-year-old neighbor and posts some amazing photos from her neighbors 1950s ranch. We live in a subdivision that was built in the late 1960s and I can only imagine if the walls could talk, what stories they would tell.

Karen Walrond, who is an amazing photographer, has a great giveaway on her blog this weekend for a gift certificate to Modern Bird Studios as well as a great photography book. If you have a favorite photograph you’d love to have turned into a modern little work of art, you should enter.

My dear friend Amy Allen Clark just celebrated 7 years of blogging. Ya’ll in blog years that makes her Betty White or something and trust me, she is just as fabulous. She has a great post about how she stuck it out and became very successful at it so it’s a wonderful read for anyone who is interested in long-term blogging success.

The Motherhood hosted a live chat Sept. 14 on The State of the Mom Blogosphere hosted by several rock star bloggers and touched on issues like marketing and that crazy branding word and which blog conferences are best. Emily from The Motherhood has posted a great synopsis of all the topics.

I’ve got a great giveaway this weekend on my review blog for a back to school prize pack sponsored by Nestle. It includes a TON of coupons for free products as well as a fun metal old school style lunchbox with the Nestle Quick bunny and a $25 Walmart gift card. And don’t forget, I’m giving away five, yes five, pairs of Lee Slender Secret Jeans right ‘chere. Your butt will thank me.

What are you up to today? We have soccer photos and a game and my youngest, Miss A, has her very first kindergarten classmate soiree at one of those bouncy house on crack places. Good times in sock feet.

Have a great weekend!

A friend from HS worked for the Atlanta Opera and part of his job was organizing flash mobs around Atlanta to draw interest. Wouldn’t that be so fun?!

We had 3-year-old soccer this morning (hilarious!) and the Hokies game this afternoon, and we FINALLY got our first win of the season. We went to the Nat’l Championship game my senior year so 0-2 was not a place we’re used to. Now we’re 1-2, which is ever so slightly better. It was hot here, too.
