Miss A, my 5-year-old, never ceases to amaze me with her diverse interests. I don’t really think of her as a traditional tomboy, but then again, she’s no miss priss. In the past few weeks she’s expressed interest in ‘nastics (gymnastics), violin lessons, and karate. I think karate may stick. She tried soccer last year but was really more into twirling (her entire body and her hair) and picking dandelions.
On the one hand she asked for a totally girly girl princess dressing table for her bedroom last Christmas, the kind you sit at and primp to your heart’s desire while brushing your hair 100 strokes and letting your toenail polish dry as sparrows flit around your tiara and your handsome prince arrives in a horse drawn carriage.
On the other hand she came home from a shopping excursion to the dollar store last weekend with the hubby the proud owner of a rubber dagger, a pirate sword, a spy kit, AND a magic kit. Tonight he taught both girls how to play blackjack and she won three out of her first four hands.
Separated at birth?
She’s either going to have a stellar career in Vegas, lead CTU after Jack Bauer finally retires, or end up on Reno 911.
