Ain’t No Sunshine When She’s Gone

Caitybug Hike

Fall break is a complete misnomer I’ve decided. The hubby and I have both worked most of the week and Miss A’s daycare is open so for everyone at our house but Miss C it’s a normal school and work week.

She stayed with my mom and inlaws Monday through Wednesday. I actually missed her fighting with her baby sister. It was just way too quiet around here.

At this point in the year I have used most of my vacation time and what time I do have left I’d like to save toward the holidays. I was the bummer parent this morning who had to explain to a 7-year-old why we couldn’t do something fun ALL DAY LONG. We did make a miraculously quick trip to Target earlier for a birthday present since she has a slumber party to attend tonight.

On that note, I think I’ll just quit my complaining and look at this beautiful picture of my girl and be thankful that it’s Friday and that this fall break B.S. is almost over.

That is a really great picture. So pretty.

For fall break this year we all took the week off and went to the beach. Our past experiences are more like yours and it’s a giant bummer, I know.

I hate to even complain because we went to Florida for spring break in March and also in June. But it’s just a weird dynamic when your kid is “on break” and everyone else is just carrying forward with the usual schedule. Oh well…I think I’m must ready to be back on a normal schedule next week!

I’m jealous of your fall break. And your proximity to mountains and streams. You might be jealous of my proximity to sandy white beaches but when I tell you it’s only been in the past two days I’ve stopped sweating, you’re probably not that jealous after all.

When they are there they are a handful. When they are gone there is a big whole in our heart only to be filled when they return. It is called being a mommie!
