Welcome To The Jungle

Otherwise known as the corner of our back yard. This was taken last Friday before the hubby tamed it with our mower. Our weed eater is on the fritz and the timing couldn’t be worse since we have had so much rain and I’m fairly certain at some point this summer I’ll be taking mammoth mosquitoes out with a Super Soaker or maybe BB gun.

By contrast, here is my mother’s lovely picturesque backyard Sunday afternoon. She has dirt in her veins ya’ll. That’s a knockout rose bush to the right. I’m thinking of getting one, however, I’m not sure I’m in the mood to test my gardening inadequacy (although my mom says they are foolproof) or sentence a lovely rose bush to certain death.

Miss A has been sick since Tuesday with something called Adenovirus, which I was convinced was strep throat, so I’m thinking of writing a post about childhood infectious diseases that need a PR campaign due to their unattractive names. I’m looking at YOU Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease.

p.s. I would LOVE it if you would vote for me  for Nick’s Parents Connect best local (Nashville) blog!

Listen to your mama, the knockout rose bushes are completely indestructable! I have six in my front yard- they have doubled their size in a year & r blooming like crazy though I do nothing (really I mean n-o-t-h-i-n-g) to them. They make my yard look like I really try and save me from the neighborhood association nazis who believe all lawns should look like private golf courses. 🙂

I was planning to at least get my front beds planted with something colorful but it’s rained so much! Hopefully I’ll get something in for June.

We bought a house that came with 20 rosebushes and I am the Biggest Loser when it comes to gardening … but I have only lost 1 or 2 in the 5 years that we have been here. Not too bad!

They had better be indestructible…our house (rental) has about a dozen rose bushes. I don’t think the landlord would like me killing them off. So far so good, have a great weekend!

Hand, foot, and mouth disease does have a terrible name and is one of the worst, if not the worst, thing that any of my kids have gone through. My daughter cried, wouldn’t eat, and would’t sleep for two weeks. It was HORRIBLE. I have never heard of it when the dr. diagnosed it…what a weird name!!!

I just love how spring encourages a lot of people to go out and garden. But I still rely on my husband to do it still LOL. I really hope everyone is okay already. Wish you all the best.

It rained even MORE this weekend but thankfully I did battle with the weeds. My mother swears I can do no harm to the Knockout rose bush. We shall see! And my father-in-law came out today, God bless him, and helped revive the weedeater. My husband thinks he had bad gas init, which is just asking for a bad joke….heh.

Miss A is now on the mend but she had a fever off and on for four days!

p.s. THANK YOU for voting for me over at the Nick’s Parents Connect contest!!!
