Buddy Lee And Me And A Great Giveaway

The winners are Elena Amble, EG, Lynn, Renee G., Deb K., Kat C., Tory Thompson, Rebekah, Leighann, and Suzy Chouinard. I’ll be e-mailing them this weekend. Thanks to everyone who entered and stay tuned for more posts from me (and Lee) throughout the year.

I’m very excited to announce I’ve been asked to work with Lee Jeans this year as a Lee Jeans “Fit Ambassador” blogger. Lee is a brand that is as American as apple pie and reality TV, plus Lee is a big supporter of breast cancer research through its annual Lee National Denim Day. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while you know that my mother-in-law is a breast cancer survivor and that I underwent a lumpectomy in the fall of 2007 after a series of tests (and thankfully it was nothing but good ole lumpy, bumpy fibrocystic tissue.)

Buddy Lee and I go way back. In the beginning, however, we didn’t have the greatest relationship. In the 80s during junior high and high school Buddy Lee was, unfortunately, the patron saint of dorky denim. However, shortly after I had Miss A in 2005 I hit TJ Maxx in search of a pair of bootcut, low rise jeans and I found the perfect pair. They also came in petite length, which I definitely need at barely 5 ft. 2. I was pleasantly surprised to find out the sharpest, best fitting pair were made by Lee! No more dark rinse, big a** fugly faux leather tag on the waistband either. These were hip mama jeans, definitely not mom jeans.

Fast forward a few years and I’ll be sharing my thoughts on new Lee products on my blog and hosting occasional giveaways for some of my favorite new Lee products so you can try them, too.

Snapping my pic on my iPhone at work in the ladies restroom, hoping no one walks in one me and wonders what the heck I am doing. Isn’t this strawberry color fun?

The first product I was sent to try was a pair of Lee colorwashed khaki pants in a fun red color called strawberry. They have a touch of lycra in them so they are comfy with a moderate low-rise waist and are perfect for work this spring. You can buy them online at JCPenny.com. These colorwashed khakis come in a straight or boot cut leg as well as a variety of colors, from riviera blue to jade green. They are available in sizes 4-16 (petite, small, medium and long length) and in Lee’s women’s collection sizes 16-26 (medium length).

I like the way Lee jeans and pants fit because they are made for a woman’s shape. This is the kinder gentler way of saying that after having two babies and inching close to 40 years old, there is no way in heck I’ll ever be able to squeeze into a junior’s size 5 jean again. And Buddy Lee? He understands that. Check out the Lee Fit Finder online to help you find the perfect fit. Lee.com also offers free shipping on all orders over $25.

I’m giving away 10 pairs of Lee’s new colorwashed khakis! Simply leave a comment on this post by midnight Wednesday, April 22, telling me if you own a pair of Lee jeans or pants and whether you love ’em or hate ’em. Lee wants to know what you think about their products. I’ll choose 10 winners at random from all eligible comments to each win one pair of colorwash khakis from Lee. For an extra entry, just follow me on Twitter (but do leave an extra comment here telling me you’ve done so.) Thanks and good luck!

I don’t own a pair of lee jeans. right now I barely own any jeans that fit, actually 😉 And after this little one comes I’m sure I’m going to be needing some new fancy britches of my own.
PS – yes, I love the strawberry color!

  2. Shari says:

I had to chuckle at your post as I have felt the same way about Lee jeanspatron saint of dorky denim. . .. ewwww not my cup of tea. I had always been a Levi kinda chick..and most importantly – I am open to wearing a pair – but – I am going to look at the JCP site and check out the khaki pants you spoke about in this post. Now.. just for grins and giggles – my BF is a huge freak for Lee jeans and only wears them.. so go figure – I guess opposites do attract! LOL

  3. Fred says:

Can you get a pair for a guy?

I’m wearing a pair of relaxed fit, light in color, jeans right now. Which makes me unique. Not that I am wearing Lee jeans, it’s just that I think that most guys who get on the internet rarely wear pants at all.

Anyway, I was an old Levi guy for decades and then they started wearing out in funny places and so I switched to Lee’s and they do much better. Now, I have the baggy look because I have not bought new ones since I have lost 30 lbs. Now I am thinner and cool.

  4. Bluegrass Mama says:

Over the past couple of years, Lee’s has become my jeans brand of choice because they actually do fit me. I am wearing a pair of them right now, in fact, though they are boring old blue.

  5. kim/hormone-colored days says:

Congrats on working with Lee. I’ve owned many a pair over the years. I am just not a $200 pair of jeans kind of gal. I’m happy to read about your thoughts and experiences with the brand and I’m even happier to win a pair (petite!).

  6. Elena Amble says:

I have a pair of Lee Riveted Cargo pants that I absolutely adore and cannot part with even though they accidentally got sprayed with paint! I remember rocking them with a tank top and boots… Those were the days…

  7. EG says:

I don’t think I own a pair of Lee jeans, unless I have a pair in a pre-baby size that I haven’t worn in a couple of years.

    Stretchy khakis sounds great, though!

  8. Sarah says:

I do not own any lee jeans right now. I can’t wear the lee jeans I had, they’re too small. I do need to go buy some more jeans. I’ll be looking for the Lee’s!

  9. Amy says:

I don’t currently have a pair, but had a few over the years. I like the fit finder out there and liked the jeans it picked for me!! Those colors are a great way to break out for spring…out of my boring blue ones!

  10. Lynn says:

    I don’t own any Lee jeans/pants. I didn’t know they came in long sizes…which I definitely need!!

  11. Ginny says:

I’ve never worn Lee. I did just buy a pair of regular colored Khaki’s because I need them for some booster club work I’m starting up. I haven’t tried them on yet though, so not sure how I like or not. I wear a junior 5, so I bought a size 6. Hoping they fit good 🙂

  12. Renee G says:

I don’t have any Lee jeans, but I absolutely love the strawberry ones.

  13. Elaine R says:

My first ever pair of jeans ,way back in grade 9,was Lee brand and everyone cool had to have Lee jeans and no other brand. I still like the way Lee jeans fit and look!

  14. Renee Campbell says:

I don’t own any Lee jeans but my mom does and apparently she likes them! I’ve seen her wear several pair so if I win she can have these.

  15. Deb K says:

I have many pairs of Lee jeans and I love them~they are so comfortable and wash out great! I have had my favorite Lee jeans for a log time and even though they are starting to wear out I still wear them on Cleaning Saturday’s! 🙂

  16. mysuestories says:

I have been looking for a new pair of GREAT fitting jeans for years…In these economic times, I am just so afraid to waste money on something I think looks good in the store, only to hate them 2 weeks later! My high school body LOVED Lee jeans, but now, NOTHING looks good. I’m hoping Lee jeans can save me (both my no butt, skinny legs AND my money!!!!!!)
Thanks for writing a GREAT blog!!!!

  17. Tory Thompson says:

Hey, I would like a pair of jeans! I have always found Lee to be a good fit for my curvaceous bod – the small-waisted, big-hipped kind – no matter what age or size I’ve been.

  18. Luann says:

I don’t own any Lee jeans right now, but have loved many pairs of Lee jeans in my life! I know I would love these too!

  19. Tanii says:

I actually love Lee jeans, namely because I can still get a pair of regular jeans. you know the super extra mega low cut why do they even need a zipper they are so low? 🙂 I’ve never tried the Khaki’s but would love too.

  20. Erica Cosgrove says:

Don’t own any Lee’s, and I confess, I was still stuck in my school-years thoughts about them (big ugly pleather tag and all) til I saw your post. I love the strawberry color and they look suprisingly hip. The last pants i bought at Target are way too low and make me feel naked when I sit down. I could stand to try a pair of Lee’s!

  21. Jenni T says:

I do remember buying Lee Jeans in the past and swore them off because of the fit. The were baggy in the hips and the waist came up really high. I bought a pair of boot cut Lee’s about a year or two ago and I wore them so much they have finally given out on me. I truly need to give up on them and get some new ones. I would love to win this giveaway and finally have more than one pair that I wear day after day! Thanks for the chance to win!

  22. rhonda says:

I have to admit…I too had the same feelings about Lee jeans. Been meaning to try some of the new ones out though, but haven’t had it in the budget yet.

  23. Connect with your Teens says:

I have owned many pairs of Lee Jeans over the years, although I don’t think I currently have any right now. I never owned any of their Khaki’s and would love to try them. Especially during the summer months, khaki’s are the best.

I am now following you on twitter.

  24. Steph. says:

The old Lee jeans, I couldn’t wear–too big in the hips. But, I’ve been eyeballing them with their new ad campaigns and I’d love to try a pair. Seems like they’ve changed a lot recently.

  25. Gayle says:

I’ve had Lee jeans in the past, but not right now. I kind of think of them as Mom jeans – maybe it’s their ads? I’d love to try them out now and see how they’ve changed. Thanks!

  26. Beth says:

Yes, I have Lee jeans and I love them! I would love to try out the new ones. Thanks for the chance.

  27. Lori Z. says:

I haven’t ventured into the land of Lee since pre first pregnancy (almost four years). And while I loved how durable their pants were, I figured I should take a gander at their current products. I love their shorts! THe Nova Scotia and some of the other bermudas are great for summer and look like they’d pair well with lots of tops. Thanks for the chance!

  28. Carol says:

Not only do I own 3 pairs of Lee jeans, everyone in my family owns Lee jeans too. It’s a brand I totally trust.

  29. joni says:

I haven’t owned a pair of Lees since elementary school, but I would love to try out the new Lees.

Pick me, pick me! I don’t own a pair of Lee’s but they look really cute on you. I have recently lost all the baby wight and then some and am in desperate need of new clothes!

  31. Lindley says:

I just got a pair of the Lee One True Fit Jeans and I love them. They are very comfortable and help hide the holiday pounds. I’d love to try another pair of Lees!

  32. Jen says:

I don’t think I’ve worn Lee jeans since HS which was 20+ years ago .. I’d be willing to give them a go! All my jeans have been from the thrift store lately.

  33. Tamara B. says:

I have never owned a pair of jeans and have heard great thing about the Lee True Fit designs. Would love to win a pair to get the children off my back by teasing me for not owning a pair of casual pants.

  34. Rhoda @ Southern Hospitality says:

I do like Lee jeans, even though I’m not sure I have a pair of Lee’s in my closet at the moment, I’ve bought many pairs of Lee’s over the years. One of the pluses for me is that they come in Long lengths (which I have to have), so that’s a big A+ in my book. I’d love to try out one of these new pairs of colored pants, sounds like a perfect color for spring.

And I wish Lee would contact me to be a spokeswoman blogger too, that would be FUN!

  35. Sylvia says:

I have never owned a pair of Lee jeans but would certainly love to try them!

Love your blog. I am just learning about Mommy Blogging and I am loving what I am reading. I enjoy your writing and love your girls. I too have a 40th birthday coming up on May 5th and with a divorce pending I don’t have anyone to spend it with so this would be a great gift. I haven’t worn Lee Jeans since high school but I loved them then and I am sure that I would love them now. Take care and God Bless.
