Yesterday was the first day of soccer practice for Miss C. The spring season kicks off February 28, one week earlier than usual. We live in the South, but this ain’t Boca people. Last year it snowed during an early March game.
It was chilly and damp and pretty well stunk weather wise but she was a trooper. This is her sixth consecutive season as she started playing when she was just 4. It’s always fun to catch up with the other parents although we were all huddled under hooded jackets like a gang of Unabombers. One of the moms was wrapped in a fleece UT throw and I started hallucinating from the cold and envisioning a Snuggie.
The hubby arrived with Miss A about 20 minutes into practice and I used her as a lap warmer until she ran off to the playground, went down the slide, and got the seat of her pants wet. Miss A was already cranky hungry, so this just threw her into turbo crank. I promised hot chocolate as soon as we got home and I turned on the gas logs in our fireplace.
Today? It’s 68 degrees outside. It’s a wonder we’re not all sick.
And now for some riveting updates!
I reviewed some great chemical free cleaning products from Ecostore USA and they asked me to write a guest post on their blog. I have to admit I am not the most green mama but I did grow up in the country smack dab in the middle of corn fields. So take a look at my guest post. As a bonus, you get to see the house I grew up in and me as a little girl with my totally smokin’ mother in the early 1970s.
I’ve mentioned that I was one of several bloggers who would be vlogging for a monthly parenting Web series. Well I jinxed myself because unfortunately the website, Capessa.com, is no longer adding new content due to economic troubles. I was initially disappointed since I had put a ton of work into the videos over Christmas break, but then I realized I have enough on my plate, thank you very much.
So, what’s on your plate? Me? I am just holding out for spring break.
