Saving Time, And My Sanity, In The Laundry Room

I was extremely fortunate to be one of several mom bloggers chosen by Mom Central to work on the Frigidaire Test Drive campaign this year. We received an Affinity front load washing machine and dryer from Frigidaire in July, which features many time saving features, something busy moms like me covet. Also,  it comes in a candy apple red color so it’s like the mid-life crisis washer and dryer, although I chose boring, practical white because the red would have clashed with our burgundy walls in the utility room.

The 7.0 cubic foot dryer has a trademarked “Fits-More” design and is the largest capacity dryer in a standard size. This is a huge selling point for me since I wash a lot of large items, like bedding, towels, and dog beds. The Affinity dryer also features DrySense technology, meaning it dries your clothes more precisely, reducing wrinkles. This is another huge selling point as my iron has a rejection complex since I avoid it at all costs.

Clean Laundry

Sadly even with the Rolls Royce of washer and dryers now at my service, I still have to fold the clean laundry and put it away.

I have one more post to write for the blog tour and I’ll have some great news about a Hollywood actress who has teamed up with Frigidaire for a great cause next week, PLUS a contest you’ll want to hear about in which you can enter to win a Frigidaire professional double wall oven.

Airing, And Sharing, My Dirty Laundry

Disclosure: As part of my review opportunity for Team Frigidaire, I agreed to post twice this month about my new front-load Affinity washer and dryer. At first I thought, “what the heck am I going to write about ,” but this was before I started using them…almost daily.

Frigidaire AffinityIn late July my 7-year-old daughter, Miss C, caught a cold from her little sister. She just couldn’t kick the cough and one night I really became concerned when she came to me and told me, “Mommy it hurts here when I cough” and pointed to her chest. It turns out she had pneumonia in her left lung. Cue the mommy freak out music as school was starting in a little more than two weeks. Thankfully within two days of starting on an antibiotic she was asking to go swimming and ride her bike (which I told her, “um, no.”)

Now what does this rambling have to do with my new washer and dryer? I don’t know about you, but when one of my kids gets sick I immediately strip their bed and wash their bed linens. I realized as I was about to start our new washing machine that we had a high temperature sanitize mode and you can better believe I used it.

Here are some additional features on my Affinity washing machine from Frigidaire that I’ve been using frequently (and loving):

  • Whitest Whites – I love using this for towels, especially. Socks get a beating at our house, too.

  • Delicates/Hand Wash – I have some nicer items I wear to my office that I like to wash on delicate.

Another bonus feature is the fact that the Affinity washing machine is incredibly quiet during the wash cycle. Both appliances are energy saving, too. I have yet to use the delay wash feature but I’d like to try this on a day I am scheduled to go into my office.

As far as the dryer, I am using the Towels/Bedding feature the most. Even though there are only four of us in our household, it seems like I am constantly washing and drying towels, especially in the summer if we hit the pool.

I also love the storage pedestals that are optional to purchase with the washer and dryer, something I would highly recommend. Our utility room is a long and narrow space and having additional out-of-sight storage is wonderful.

Now if I can just get the rest of my utility room organized, it will be the ideal laundry room!

Thanks again Frigidaire and Mom Central!

Just Call Me The Diva Of Dirty Laundry

We’ve been using our brand new Affinity front load washing machine and dryer from Frigidaire for more than a month now and I’ve got to tell you I LOVE THEM. I actually don’t mind doing laundry any more because walking into our utility room feels like walking into my own personal laundromat minus the 80s video games and the magazines (also from the 80s.) Of course I still hate folding and putting away laundry, but that’s another story.

Seriously if it is possible to truly adore appliances, then I have appliance love. I feel like a rock star doing laundry because they’re so state-of-the art I actually don’t mind washing dirty clothes or dirty whatever. Dog beds? Sofa slipcovers? Full-size comforters? These bad boys can take it!

I am also loving the storage pedestals and use them to stow away our bleach, fabric softener sheets, and even our iron. Our utility room is long and narrow so to have additional, yet hidden, storage space was a bonus.

Speaking of bonus, you’ll see from this video that even Miss C now wants to do laundry. Miss A, per usual, just wants to play her pink electric guitar.

Thanks again to Mom Central and Frigidaire for this amazing review opportunity and also to Rico and Ronald at A1 Appliance here in Nashville who tolerated me ooohing and aaaaaahing over our new washer and dryer while they installed them!

So tell me, what’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever washed in your washing machine? I’m thinking mine is soccer shin guards, although honestly that’s probably not that weird.
