Get Your Guac On

One of the biggest blogging events of the year, the annual BlogHer conference, will be held the weekend of July 24 in Chicago.

If you’re like me you’re not attending because maybe you’re out of cash after two family vacations, not to mention vacation days at work, and you might spend that weekend avoiding your Google Feed Reader because you just can’t quite bear to read ONE MORE BlogHer post.

Well, have I got an intervention plan for you. It may or may not involve tequila!

Fellow Nashville blogger Amy at Milkbreath and Margaritas and I are co-hosting Margarit-Her Saturday July 25 at the new Cantina Laredo restaurant in the Gulch for local bloggers. I haven’t been to the new Nashville location but we went to the Cantina Laredo in Sandestin and it is fantastic. They make amazing fresh guacomole right at your table. I get excited just typing that.

And just look at this super cute blog button designed by Karla from Modern Media Mom and Looking Towards Heaven.

We’d love for you to join us for dinner at 6. I need a head count by Friday, July 17. You can e-mail me at blondemomblog @ yahoo.com.

We hope to see you there!

p.s. There are only a few more days to vote in Nick’s Parents Connect Best Local Blog contest. I would love your vote!!

Guy Kawasaki Is In Da House

It occurred to me while I was looking at photos from the Kirtsy Alltop party during BlogHer held at tech guru Guy Kawasaki’s home, that I have committed an error in social graces. I never thanked the Alltop team for adding my blog to their fabulous aggregator site featuring the best of mom blogs.

When the Moms Alltop guide launched I saw that Divine Caroline’s parenting posts were featured and thought, “Hey, I’m a Divine Caroline featured parenting partner! I should be on Alltop!”

So I sent a direct, but not too full of shameless begging, e-mail to the Alltop folks and lo and behold they added me. It’s a great comprehensive site with feeds from some of the top mom blogs out there, so if you’re new to blogging you might want to check it out. Some of the newer topics added to Alltop include architecture, branding (not the cattle variety), HR, and genealogy, so if reading mom blogs isn’t your thing, there are plenty of other topics to choose from. Then again if you’re reading this post and you’re not into mom blogs, then you’ve stumbled upon my blog via some sort of freaky Google search and all I have to say is “this ain’t that kind of blonde mom blog” if you know what I mean.

The hubby is currently reading Guy’s “Art of the Start: The Time-Tested, Battle-Hardened Guide for Anyone Starting Anything,” which is a start-up bible. Hubby is working his daddy booty off getting a business plan ready so that he can franchise his computer services company, which, in my opinion blows the geek squadron places out of the water. Guy’s book has a place of honor in our bathroom by our toilet. It’s usually there or on hubby’s nightstand table.

But seriously Guy, thanks to you and your team for adding my blog to Alltop and for serving as an inspiration to entrepreneurs like my hubby.

Is this Hello Kitty sandal too casual?

Oh, this is much better (koozie courtesy of Debunot.)

I have smashing good news about my breasts. I can resume my regularly scheduled mammograms; I don’t have to go back in for one year.

WOOT!

Cheers and have a great weekend.

p.s. If you’re like me, and didn’t make it to BlogHer, did you know they are doing smaller scale one-day events as part of their fall Reach Out tour in Boston, DC, Nashville, Greensboro, Atlanta and New Orleans?
