I'm just another working mom seeking a few moments of Zen and zinfandel between soccer practice and supper. My former beach bartender husband founded MouseCalls Computer Services here in Nashville. I believe laughter is the best medicine, especially when regularly administered with a good glass of wine, or three. Email me at blondemomblog@gmail.com

About Jamie

Summer family vacation on Tybee Island, Georgia, 2011

Welcome to BlondeMomBlog, a top 5 Google search result for “mom blog” and my virtual spot for pontificating about poop and pinot noir since 2005.

I’m  a 42-year-old soccer mom from Nashville, Tennessee. I have two amazing little girls, Miss C (9) and Miss A (6), who keep me on my toes and in my car. Although I live in the suburbs, I’m really a country girl at heart. I grew up where monster trucks, Hank Williams Jr., and field parties were all the rage. I named my pet chickens, read lots of books, and couldn’t wait to get my driver’s license so I could cruise McDonald’s in “town” with my friends. Cue Small Town by John Mellencamp.

I’m a Leo. I’m barely 5 ft. 2. I’m afraid of heights and opening cans of biscuits. I’m talkative and a tad OCD and often goofy. I met my husband in high school and he puts up with my many blonde moments, hence the name of my blog. No I am not glamorous or a bimbo.

How did I get started as a blogger? I was fortunate to work from home after my younger daughter was born, but once I got into a routine I was desperate for a creative outlet, not to mention a little stir crazy. My husband introduced me to the blogosphere and I was hooked.

I write about the humorous side of parenting, our mutt Jack, and whatever else tickles my fancy, from shopping to pop culture. I struggle to get to work, or anywhere, on time, eradicate the dog hair in our house, and find 5 minutes of peace and quiet that don’t involve sitting on, or cleaning, a toilet. I’m definitely not a perfect mom or a Martha Stewart type. I believe laughter is the best medicine, especially when regularly administered with a good glass of wine (or three.)

I am available for social media consulting and brand ambassador affiliations and attended several automotive industry social media events in 2010 (for Honda, Nissan, and Ford), as well as events for GE and Nintendo in 2011. In 2008 I launched Savvy Housewife, a product review and shopping blog. I also write family travel reviews for destinations such as the Westin and Sheraton in Los CabosSandestin Golf and Beach Resort and St. Augustine, Florida.

Some of my social media credentials:

  • 4,000 plus followers on Twitter; 1,000 plus fans on Facebook

  • Guest blogger at TravelingMom.com

  • Vicks Vapo Rub ambassador, 2011-2012

  • Featured in The Digital Mom Handbook, 2011

  • Bulldog Reporter PR University Panelist, Top Mommy Bloggers Tell PR About Hottest Trends, Pitching Tips, and Editorial Hooks, 2011

  • Lee Jeans Lee Fit ambassador since 2009

  • Nintendo ambassador since 2010

  • Southern Mama Blogger of the Week, April 2009, Southern Living’s Live Healthy Blog

I have a degree in journalism and sociology from Western Kentucky University and work part-time as an editor and social media coordinator. I have 20 years’ experience in PR, communications, writing, and editing and I am a past president of the Nashville chapter of IABC (International Association of Business Communicators.)

Read more about my background on my About Me page.

I love to travel with my family (preferably to the beach), search for, and drink, the perfect margarita, shop for bargains, and watch Mad Men (the AMC show, not actual crazy men…). I am a dog lover, a cheeseburger connoisseur, and a jeans and t-shirt kind of mom, although I have been known to get my glamour girl on in Hollywood.

Thanks for stopping by ya’ll! I’d love to hear from you. Please email me any time at blondemomblog @ gmail.com

Your husband tells me that you are adept at WordPress. Our website need some corrections (i.e. links that link to nowhere) as well as a few changes I would like to make with that is just text oriented. I have been on our admin site and have managed to do the simple text corrections in the body of the pages but it is the template that I cannot figure out how to do.

If you were interested in working on these with us, how much would you need per hour?

I hope we can work something out.

    Thanks, Susie Dudley

    Hey Jamie,

Remember those cute t-shirts at Apricot Lane on Highway 100 … before it moved/closed? The ones with the sewn-on appliques such as a cross, flower, peace sign, etc.? Have you written about – or remember – the local mom who makes these? I wore one to a soccer game last weekend and I was mobbed by fellow moms who wanted one. I didn’t know where to send them but thought you might remember them – or know.

    Have a great weekend …

    Laura
