Mrs. Indiana And Mrs. Tennessee Hit The Big Apple

Today I’m meeting up with this fabulous friend in New York City!

If you aren’t familiar with her website, Mom Advice, Amy Allen Clark is a one woman frugal fashionista creative petite mojo of a woman and she has an incredible career, working with brands such as Kenmore, Kellogg, and Walmart. Heck, she has even been featured in Redbook magazine for her credit card slashing. She and I first met in 2007  in San Francisco for a Real Girls Media trip and we hit it off instantly. We hung out together all weekend. Although I don’t see her very often (the last time was at the Blissdom conference here in Nashville) we always have a blast!

When we’re not gallivanting in the Big Apple, we’ll be doing moms gone wild things like reading gossip magazines and eating Moon Pies in our hotel room. Just like Sex and the City, with less Spanx, Botox, and Manolo Blahniks!

I didn’t have any intentions of attending BlogHer in New York City this year. I couldn’t justify the expense of airfare, conference fees, and hotel accommodations, especially in the year of the Great Flood and its trickle down effects on my husband’s business. We have not gone on a family vacation this summer and my husband’s car died this spring so a nearly $1,000 trip for a blog conference seemed fun, but frivolous. When Amy asked me to be her guest at the beautiful Royalton Hotel, just minutes away from Times Square, courtesy of Unilever, I couldn’t turn her down! My 41st birthday is also next week so this was truly a girls’ weekend to celebrate my last few days of being 40! I haven’t been to New York since I was pregnant with Miss C and it was for a quick fly in, fly out business trip. This trip will be ALL FUN!

Tonight I will be attending a fantastic bloggers’ night out on the roof of Martha Stewart Omnimedia! I considered painting my toenails Martha Stewart signature blue, but decided that might be going a tad overboard. Unilever is hosting events Friday and Saturday evening, with a breakfast Saturday morning as well. I’ll also be having breakfast with several of my fellow Sprout Band of Bloggers.

The last time Amy and I hung out we got our picture made with Harry Connick Jr. so I’m pretty excited about the next four days and all the possibilities.

Thank you my rock star blog friend for asking me to join you this weekend!

I am not a rock star at all, but THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for making me sound like one. The trip was unbelievable and will forever by in my memory books. If I was my twelve year old self, I would be making a scrapbook right this minute with puffy hearts around our pictures. I am so lucky to be your friend and thank you for the moon pies. Laying in bed with moon pie crumbs all around me…heaven 🙂 xoxoxo
