Shopping, movies, hot cocoa? I’m there.
Netflix asked me to help spread the word about a fun event tomorrow at Opry Mills which would be a nice break from holiday shopping.
I’m especially excited because I’m taking the day off from work to spend time with Miss A who has a special Christmas field trip to Chaffin’s Barn Dinner Theatre. Before the play we’re heading to Opry Mills to stop by Netflix’s Watch Instantly Holiday House in the food court. There’s going to be a family room, a child’s bedroom, a teen’s hideaway, a media room, and a kitchen where shoppers can kick back and check out the many ways they can watch their favorite TV shows and movies streamed from Netflix. Honestly if they threw in wine and streaming episodes of Mad Men I might be tempted to just move in until the end of the year….but my family would eventually miss me. I hope.
The Netflix Watch Instantly Holiday House will be set up with all the comforts of home: couches, recliners, and beanbags and hot cocoa, cookies, and popcorn will be served. Each “room” will be equipped with Netflix-ready devices such as the X-Box 360, PlayStation, TiVO HD DVR, Roku Digital Video Player, and LG Network Blu-ray player. There will be several people on hand to help shoppers test the new Netflix Watch Instantly service, which allows members to instantly watch unlimited movies and TV episodes streamed to their TVs and computers.
Netflix has offered a fun prize pack, which includes autographed CDs from Julianne Hough and Jennifer Hudson, slippers, and a messenger bag, for a Blonde Mom Blog reader. Just leave a comment about your favorite holiday movie. Mine is “It’s A Wonderful Life.” A random winner will be chosen from all eligible comments left by midnight Sunday, December 20 (U.S. addresses only.) For an extra entry you can Tweet about this giveaway and link to this post (but leave an extra comment here telling me you’ve done so.) Thanks and good luck!

Disclosure: I was not compensated monetarily for this post, but I agreed, along with four other local bloggers, to help spread the word about this event.
Updated to add…here’s a picture of myself with Middle Tennessee bloggers Kelly from Faithful Provisions and Elizabeth from Busy Mom.
