My Two Pumpkins

Just a reminder to take lots of pictures of your little ones this weekend. I figure we only have a few more years until we enter the dangerously teetering on the edge of slutty costume stage.

Miss A’s first Halloween, 2005.

I have saved this sweet outfit and it’s stored in one of those “special bins” in the attic, you know the ones you should never open when you have PMS unless you want your husband to find you hours later in your bedroom weeping and clutching a ratty looking loved to the point of unrecognizable stuffed animal (is it a car shop rag or a baby stuffed bunny?) that your child loved to death, not to mention sneezed on, drooled on, and rubbed to disfigurement…gotta love the ugly lovie! I love that the bottoms of the little feet say “boo.” Stop the cuteness. Look at her little pink cheeks. OK stop it.

Miss C’s fourth Halloween, 2005.

I made the ghost from a crib sheet and black felt. Folks this is about as crafty as this mama gets. I was rather impressed with myself. Miss C was nearly 3 1/2 and I remember this being the first Halloween that she really got the hang of the trick or treating strategy. It’s like a light went on in her little head and she thought, “Wait a minute…you people are giving away candy? For free? Just because I’m a cute kid and walking around with my dad? AWESOME.” This was also the year I realized the fringe benefits of your child not liking peanut butter and you scoring all the Reese’s peanut butter cups. FIST PUMP.

It’s looking like the rain just may hold off for Nashville’s trick or treating tomorrow. Here are a couple of fun local links for you, though, just in case you are undecided about your Halloween plans:

It’s a pumpkin chunkin’ y’all! Head to the Adventure Science Museum Sunday afternoon and catapult your Jack O’Lantern to a pulpy finish.

Cool Springs Mall is having trick or treating from 6 to 7 on Halloween and Macy’s is having activities all day.

If you’re North of Nashville, Rivergate Mall is having trick or treating from 6 to 8.

Area Publix grocery stores are having events from 4 to 6. I’m not sure if this is a nationwide thing or not, but I bet it is.

Papa Murphy’s pizza has fun Jack O’Lantern pepperoni pizzas. I bought one today for dinner tomorrow night. I know…I am scaring myself with my preparedness!

There’s a fun Legend of Sleepy Hollow marionette show at the downtown Nashville library at 4.
