Nap Warden, who commented, “Wow…that is quite a toothbrush! I use the Oral B electric,” is the winner of the Ultreo giveaway!” Thanks to everyone who entered.
Last year wasn’t a banner dental care year for me, so I was intrigued when approached with the chance to review the new Ultreo ultrasound toothbrush, which takes dental care to a whole new level.
Ultreo is the first major innovative development in toothbrushes in more than a decade. It is the only power toothbrush to combine ultrasound waveguide technology with precisely tuned sonic bristle action. Developed at the University of Washington, it’s basically the bad ass of toothbrushes.
Ultreo features:
- an auto shut off timer
- a brushing interval signal that beeps every 3 seconds to help you clean each area of your mouth equally
- a compact charger base and wall plug
- a battery charge status indicator that tells the level of battery power (when fully charged you can use Ultreo for up to 28 brushings without additional charging)
- the ability to remove up to 95% of plaque from hard-to-reach places in one minute. It is also clinically proven to be safe and gentle for everyday use on gums, natural tooth surfaces, and dental work
Ultreo retails for $169.99 and can be purchased from participating dental offices, Ultreo’s website, and online retailers such as Drugstore.com, Amazon.com, and The Sharper Image. Additional brush heads can be purchased so that more than one person can share the toothbrush base.
This is not a product I would normally go out and buy for myself, but the Ultreo is definitely an investment in dental care. My teeth felt considerably cleaner after brushing with the Ultreo, and I’d compare it to that “just professionally cleaned” type feeling you get after an appointment with your dental hygenist.

If you’d like to own the equivalent of the Rolls Royce of toothbrushes, here’s your chance. Just leave a comment telling me what brand of toothbrush you use. I’ll select a random winner from all eligible comments (U.S. and Canadian residents only) now through midnight Sunday, July 20. For two chances, just blog about this giveaway and hook me up with a link.

I’m currently using an older Sonicare.
Whatever is on sale – be it Colgate or Crest or Oral-B. I have owned a Sonicare and I loved it! But it’s not in the current budget right now. Would love the chance to win!
I’m the same as most—whatever is on sale! Ha!
Hmmm, I’m not too picky. I use whatever it is the dentist gives me after my check up.
I have always wanted to try an electric one though, to see what all the fuss is about.

I use Oral-B… also because my dentist gives them to me. However, I just found out I’m pregnant. We all know what kind of hacoc that can wreak on your teeth and gums so this toothbrush would find a great home with me!
The latest one I have gotten for our family is the Colgate 360. I liked that it had a soft rubber toung brush on the back side of the head. I have not tried any of the electric brushes yet, and I’m curious to how they compare.
I have a Colgate manual toothbrush at the moment. Would love to try one of these….

Never used a power toothbrush before, but my dentist is highly recommending it. After getting admonished for all the plaque in my mouth and the receding gums, i am thinking it might be time to get proactive. i know people getting gum transplants to keep their teeth covered and any fewer trips to the dental chair are greatly prefered. My entire body goes rigid from the moment i get seated until i get the all done declaration.
Looking over the numerous models out there, and i can’t keep track at all. No two stores carry the same models, so the only way to price compare is on-line. The only feature i noticed that i could grasp onto was found in a review of the Ultreo. It was mentioned that it could be programmed for two users. None of the others advertised that valuable point. I am not about to buy two power brushes for my wife (even if she is a redhead) and i if the brush heads can be easily interchangeable, which they should be. So, the ultreo is looking promising, although i have not yet been able to locate a website for the Ultrea company.
I am currently using an electric Rotadent toothbrush, it’s nice but… I just ordered Ultreo from http://www.drugstore.com for only $39.98 and can’t wait for it to arrive
I tried it in the past and fell in love. Soon we’ll be together again :o)
