Feelin’ Lucky?

Filed under: Bad Hair Days, Working Mom — Blonde Mom at 8:45 am on Thursday, July 19, 2007

So I think I’m killing my lucky bamboo plant I have here at the office. It’s in a fun little whimsical jade green pot encircled with frogs. My stepmom bought it for me at a flea market while we were in Florida last month. Aren’t frogs also supposed to be lucky, or am I delirious from hunger? (I am running on coffee and a few bites of Miss A’s abandoned cereal bar.)

I moved it from the window to my desk when someone pointed out that, although it was basking in the sunshine streaming through my window, it was directly underneath the air conditioning vent.

Anyone have any advice?

A black cat also ran in front of my car yesterday so I don’t want to take any chances.

I didn’t know frogs were lucky? I’m ‘FroggieMom’ and I sure don’t have tons of luck. Hmmm…

Renee:

My mother informed me that frogs are considered by some people to actually be unlucky. Oh well. I’m sure Kermit the frog would have something to say about that. Also, she claims that bamboo is the easiest plant out there to maintain. Of course she also has a green thumb! ;)

I thought it was if someone gave you elephants that it was lucky? Who knows? Those plants don’t like sun or bottled water…only tap water. Take it from someone who’s killed plenty of them. ha!

drag. i had two bamboo shoots growing and one of them caught some freakish mold. I’m just waiting for the remaining one to catch it too.

I try not to think about the ramifications of killing these lucky plants that have lived peacably for 10 years in my house. what gives?!

Mrs. Fierce Shoes:

A friend at work also advised me against tap water so I’ve started giving it bottled water.

It still looks pretty bleak. Hopefully when I go back in tomorrow it will have perked up a bit.

Anne:

I would offer advice but unfortunately I did not inherit my mother’s wonderful green thumb abilities. Her garden and house plants flourish like crazy.

I really am afraid the poor thing is on it’s last “shoots”?

Here are some tips…I didn’t know it couldn’t take the kitchen tap water…I have been giving it filtered water.

Waaahhh
