She’s Crafty

Some days I wonder what it’s like to be a crafty Martha Stewart type mama, especially these lovely autumn days when lawns and porches are paying homage to autumn with elaborate displays of scarecrows, mums, and exotic varieties of gourds. Honestly just walking into a craft shop overwhelms me. I’ve never brandished a hot glue gun in my life. Last year I tried to decopauge a tin for Caitlin’s room and it ended up shamefully tossed in the trash.

This week’s BlogJolt blogger is mom Liz Smith who has a great parenting tips site called Bebestages, complete with craft project goodness for those rainy days you’re stuck in the house with your kids and you can no longer bear to hear them whine “Mommy, I’m bored” for the thousandth time.

Speaking of crayons, I love this tip on how to take old crummy broken crayons (I find myself tossing way too many crayons lately that Amelia has nibbled) and make new ones in the oven. I am not a big baker, but I think even I could handle this project.

If you are up higher on the Martha chain than I, you might want to make these fun pipecleaner spiders with your kiddos. Now these are spiders I wouldn’t mind having in the house. Unless of course Amelia tries to eat them. She is cutting two molars.

Hi Jamie,
I have made those crayons before! They are super easy, but I found the blended colors looked unsightly on paper. Of course, the kids didn’t care! I suppose that is what really matters :)

Pattie:

That is the truth! The girls will not care. Caitlin will just think it’s “cool” to bake crayons. :)
