You know, I was keeping several of mine, and I remember having them as I boomeranged from my folks to my first apartment to my folks, ad infinitum, but somewhere along the way.... lost they became... I do still have a couple - but I sure miss that original Richard Scarry book (I'm 36) and I really miss that jokes and riddles book... I can still see the pictures in my mind..."Why did the robber take a shower? --He wanted to make a clean getaway." Unkempt, unshaven man with a big, black watch peeking out of a shower curtain. From the Weekly Reader book club. Good times. I also had a condensed version of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens that I got through the book club. Also a good one for when you're a kid. I like the non-condensed one now. I never read Madeleine L'Engle when I was a kid and then when I was 20 years old and living with a family as an au pair, their 11 year old daughter said she liked A Wrinkle in Time and insisted I read it, which I did that very night. When I told her I finished it the next morning, she insisted I read the rest of them since I could go through them so quickly. I thank her for that. Probably the best experience to come of being an au pair. I have that same copy of Charlotte’s Web. From the Weekly Reader book club. Good times.
